PROJECT : Architecture Exploration (SPADE 2) REPORT : 1 SUBJECT : State of the Art in the Fields of System Specification and Architecture Exploration DATE : June 19th, 2001 ABSTRACT : In this report we present an overview of system level design methodologies and tools. 8 different tools and their underlying methodologies were analysed. We found that existing tools are not mature enough to completely fulfill all design requests. In our opinion, more research has to be done in the area of mixed-level simulation, verification, and synthesis of complex heterogeneous systems. AUTHOR : Vladimir D. Y-Chart Based System Level Performance Analysis: An M-JPEG Case Study
In the Artemis project an architecture workbench is being developed. One of the inputs for defining this workbench is the SPADE methodology. SPADE (System level Performance Analysis and Design space Exploration) follows the Y-chart approach; application and architecture are modeled separately, and the mapping of the application onto the architecture is an explicit design step. As an advantage w...
متن کاملAn Integrated Task Graph Partitioning and RTL Design Space Exploration System for Multi-FPGA Architectures
This paper presents spade, an integrated partitioning and register transfer level (rtl) design space exploration system for multi-fpga reconngurable architectures. The input to spade is an acyclic task graph, T G = (T; E), where T is the set of tasks and E is the set of edges. Tasks represent behavioral or algorith-mic code segments. Edges denote data dependencies between tasks. Each task is pr...
متن کاملThe Architecture of the SPADE - 1 Process - Centered SEE ?
SPADE is a project carried out at CEFRIEL and Politecnico di Milano. It aims at deening a process modeling language (called SLANG) and a Process-centered Software Engineering Environment (PSEE) based on this language. PSEEs support software activities through the execution of the model of the software process. Such a model integrates the description of human activities and of the interaction be...
متن کاملRequirements and Early Experiences in the Implementation of the SPADE Repository using Object-Oriented Technology
Software development environments (SDEs) pose pressing requirements to the supporting repositories. This paper describes these requirements, as derived within the SPADE project. SPADE is a process centered environment being developed at CEFRIEL and Politecnico di Milano. The aim of the paper is to report the experiences that the authors have gained in building a repository for SPADE using O 2 ,...
متن کاملA Methodology for Architecture Exploration of Heterogeneous Signal Processing Systems
We present a methodology for the exploration of signal processing architectures at the system level. The methodology, named Spade, provides a means to quickly build models of architectures at an abstract level, to easily map applications, modeled as Kahn Process Networks, onto these architecture models, and to analyze the performance of the resulting system by simulation. The methodology distin...
